Upcoming weekend events at Grafton Lakes State Park GRAFTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Are you looking for outdoor educational programs about wildlife? Head to Grafton Lakes State Park this weekend for an amphibian adventure and a free program about animal skulls and pelts. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! The Amphibian Adventure will run from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Participants will search the shorelines and learn to identify different species of amphibians. Registration is required. The program costs $2 per person and is open to kids ages 6 and older. On Sunday, join park staff at the Conklin Program Tent on Long Pond Beach for the Summer Beach Program about skulls and skins. The program is open to all ages, and registration is not required. Guests will learn about local wildlife and be able to handle and observe skulls and pelts.

Second Northwoods officer charged in police beating investigation ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A second Northwoods officer faces criminal charges in alleged police beating earlier this month in north St. Louis County. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Michael Hill, 51, with second-degree kidnapping. Prosecutors previously charged another city of Northwoods officer, Samuel Davis, 26, in the case. Investigators say Hill was Davis' supervising officer at the time of the alleged beating. According to several reports and a Twitter announcement, the Arena Football League will return in 2024 with 16 teams. LAPD pursues allegedly stolen vehicle in San Fernando Valley The Los Angeles Police Department pursued a vehicle in the San Fernando Valley Wednesday morning.The vehicle, which appears to be a white work truck with cables in the back, was also towing a small trailer.At one point, the truck appeared to crash into at least one other vehicle, which then hit a third vehicle. Three people fatally shot in Oakland OAKLAND — Three people were fatally shot in different areas of East Oakland Wednesday morning including a woman and a man found inside a home and a woman discovered outside on a street, authorities said.The woman and man, both in their 40s, were found about 1:23 a.m. Wednesday in a home in the 1100 block of 89th Avenue, authorities said. The study looked at vehicles in the used market and the manufacturer’s listed mpg for various models.ToplineCalifornia cars are getting an average 31 miles per gallon, easily the best in the nation.The rest of the top 10 for fuel use are No. 2 Hawaii at 28.4 mpg, then Washington state at 28.2, Oregon at 27.9, Nevada at 27.5, Arizona and Colorado at 27.2, Virginia and Maryland at 27.1, and Utah at 26.8.And the least efficient? North Dakota and Wyoming at 22.5 mpg, then Montana at 22.8, South Dakota at 23, Iowa at 23.7, West Virginia at 23.9, Nebraska at 24.1, and Michigan, Alaska, and Arkansas at 24.2.What’s driving this?I’ll use the extremes of these top and bottom states to suggest the forces behind these mpg gaps.Note that the high mpg states average 27.9 miles per gallon vs. 23.5 in low-efficiency states....
