FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Mazi Smith started his first full day as a first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys meeting new teammates.The burly defensive tackle ended it getting ready to welcome one of his old teammates at Michigan.The Cowboys made it two-for-two on Wolverines in the NFL draft, taking tight end Luke Schoonmaker with the 58th overall pick in the second round Friday night.In his first chat with reporters not long after he was selected, Schoonmaker said he hadn’t had a chance to text or call Smith. DENVER (KDVR) — Over 700 dogs were taken from a breeder in Iowa and sent to shelters and rescues across the United States, including right here in Denver."We had a breeder that had 718 dogs and they were shut down by the government," Allie Bradshaw said. Denver Animal Shelter near capacity, fees dropped Bradshaw is the founder of A Friend of Jack Rescue in Denver, which took in dogs from Iowa — 21 Thursday night and another 55 on Friday morning, she said.The dogs were bused from Iowa. (KDVR) -- After recent spring storms across the Front Range, experts are on high alert for triggered landslides.Northbound Highway 125 between Trail Creek and Forest Service Road 112 in Grand County reopened on Friday after a mudslide spilled into the road. DENVER (KDVR) — Youth organizers in Denver are bringing attention to gun violence and underscoring its impact on teens, all through art.First Baptist Church of Denver is the temporary home to an art exhibit by Team ENOUGH Denver, a youth-led organization with a mission to educate young people about gun violence in hopes of ending it."There’s Arapahoe High School, STEM, Club Q's on there, Columbine, Deer Creek," said Lucy Sarkissian, referencing Denver-area schools and public places that suffered shootings. DENVER (KDVR) — Fewer teens than ever are identifying as heterosexual, according to a recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.The CDC study found one in four high school students identify as LGBTQ. Part of the reason this number could be so high is that a lot of these teens were asked for the first time if they were questioning their sexuality.The CDC surveyed 17,508 students in 152 schools nationwide to get these figures.
