HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A Texas man who said his death sentence was based on false and unscientific expert testimony was executed Thursday evening for killing a man during a robbery decades ago.Brent Ray Brewer, 53, died by chemical injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville for the April 1990 death of Robert Laminack. Prosecutors had said Laminack, 66, gave Brewer and his girlfriend a ride to a Salvation Army location in Amarillo when he was stabbed in the neck and robbed of $140.After a spiritual adviser standing next to Brewer in the death chamber said a brief prayer, and Brewer responded, “Amen,” the inmate told the warden also next to him that he wanted to make a final statement.“I would like to tell the family of the victim that I could never figure out the words to fix what I have broken,” he said as members of the Laminack family quietly watche...

DENVER, (KDVR) -- Despite Colorado ranking near the top of the list nationally for auto theft, Denver's Right of Way Enforcement Division does not have access to a statewide database of stolen vehicles. According to a city spokesperson, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation rescinded access to the list to Denver's Right of Way Enforcement (ROWE) Division because it's not a police agency. View the latest Weather Alerts in Denver and across Colorado on FOX31 The news came as a surprise to Ed Beery, who recently received an overdue notice for a ticket that was reportedly placed on his stolen work truck more than a week after it was reported stolen."Eight days after we reported it stolen, the city of Denver wrote the citation," Beery said. FORT COLLINS, Colo. (KDVR) -- A distributor of Australian wines based in Fort Collins says the law that allowed wine to be sold in grocery stores is having a harsh effect on his company and small liquor stores. The law went into effect March 1st of this year. FOX31 covered the concerns of mom-and-pop liquor stores when it happened. But now distributors, like Australian Beverage Company, says grocery store wine is killing their bottom line.ABC owner Bruce Clugston said that compared to last year, they’re down 40% with small liquor stores and 20% with larger stores. The company distributes to stores across the state."I’ve done very well with a lot of small retailers and it’s they are sort of my lifeblood and I am talking to people now and no one is ordering anything," Clugston said. "Here we are coming up on Thanksgiving and no one is ordering because they don’t know if they are going to be able to survive."He says it comes down to foot traffic, fewer customers means a lesser need for...
